Vortex Flowmeters

RS Hydro supply a range of inline and insertion vortex flow meters including GE's Panaflow MV series and Siemens vortex flowmeters. As well as flow measurement in gas, liquid and steam applications, these multi-variable vortex meters can also measure temperature and pressure to provide mass flow measurement.

Inline multivariable vortex flow meters

Inline Multivariable Vortex Flowmeters

Consists of a vortex shedding velocity sensor, an RTD temperature sensor and a solid state pressure transducer to measure flow, pressure and temperature at the same location, providing greater accuracy in process measurement. Provides a cost effective solution with simple operation, for gas, liquid and steam applications.

Insertion multivariable vortex flow meters

Insertion Multivariable Vortex Flowmeters

With the same functionality as the inline flowmeter, this is essentially a minature vortex flowmeter on a probe. The meters electronics compute the average flow reading throughout the meters range by assessing the pipe size, the insertion depth and the predicted flow profile.

Vortex flowmeters can often be the best choice for applications in the petrochemical industry. Many applications in the oil and gas industry are also suited to a vortex flowmeter solution, especially the allocation of natural gas along smaller pipes (less than 8 inches).

Other applications in which vortex flowmeters are the right choice include process industry applications where multivariable measurement is necessary, and large energy management applications such as universities, office buildings etc. Vortex flowmeters are also ideal for steam applications.

Installation & Maintenance Savings

Installing multivariable vortex flowmeters can save considerably on installation and maintenance costs with applications that require temperature, pressure and flow measurement.

Compared with installing separate pressure, temperature and flow transducers, the installation of a Panaflow MV vortex flowmeter can save over 30% on installation costs alone. With no moving parts and no calibration required, Panaflow vortex flowmeters also provide significant long-term savings compared to other technologies.

Easy to Use

Installing multivariable vortex flowmeters can save considerably on installation and maintenance costs with applications that require temperature, pressure and flow measurement.

Simple Communications

Using Modbus/HART over a single pair of wires, the Panaflow MV series provides seamless integration with customer DCS systems.
