The Micro Double Valve Pump (Micro DVP) is designed to be small and flexible making it ideal for use in narrow boreholes when doing low flow sampling. Instead of using a bladder, the Micro DVP uses coaxial PTFE/FEP tubing making it suitable for CMT or wells with diameters less than 10mm.
The Micro DVP is small enough to fit in 1/2â?? (13mm) tubing and all channels of the Solinst Model 403 CMT Systems. Its unique size and flexibility means it is easy to transport and install in various applications.
Micro DVPâ??s are suitable for low flow sampling and narrow down-hole applications with flow rates ranging between 20 to 150ml/min without producing excessive purge volumes. The Micro DVP is durable and easy to operate using the pre-sets and custom sampling capabilities built into the Solinst Model 464 Electronic Control Unit.
OperationFormation water enters through the Micro DVPâ??s filter caused by hydrostatic pressure into both the inner PTFE tube and the annulus of the coaxial tubes. Drive gas/air is then cycled down the annular space located between the two tubes to then close the lower check valve and to push the water up the inner sample tube. The pump is then vented so that new formation water can enter both the tubes under hydrostatic pressure. The pressure of gas/air is monitored and controlled at all times to ensure that the air/water interface is never able to enter the pumps body. The pressure/vent cycle in then repeated to bring a high quality sample to the surface in a regulated manner.
The Micro Double Valve Pump was designed to operate with 2ft (0.6m) head of water or more over the intake.
