Overview
The introduction of the EasyAG soil moisture probes from one of the world's leading soil moisture probe manufacturers Sentek have given soil moisture monitoring a significant boost. As well as moisture, the TriSCAN sensors also measures soil salinity.
There are two significant advantages to the EasyAG TriScan moisture sensors over its competitors. Firstly, EasyAG soil moisture sensors are quick and easy to install (thanks to a slim design), eliminating the need for the time-consuming augering job that is required by larger sensors. And secondly, the Easy AG TriSCAN is significantly more attractive in price than its big brothers from the EnviroSMART range.
An electromagnetic signal is sent through sensors that are mounted at preset depths and soil moisture is then derived from the resulting soil's conductivity measurements. Algorithms for light and sandy soils are currently available, while those for heavier soils are still under development.
