The Siemens ST-H ultrasonic transducer uses ultrasonic technology to detect level in a wide range of liquids and solids.
The narrow design of the Siemens ST-H ultrasonic level transducer allows it to be mounted on 2" standpipe. When mounted correctly, it is totally protected from the process and can endure harsh and corrosive environments.
During operation, the STH transducer emits acoustic pulses in a narrow beam width*, perpendicular from the transducer face. The ultrasonic level controller measures the time between pulse emission and reflection (echo) reception to calculate the distance from the transducer face to the material. The integral temperature sensor compensates for sound velocity variations due to changes in air temperature within the measurement range.
-Beam width is described as, "twice the angle at which off-axis transmission is 3dB less than transmission axis acoustic pressure levels (as measured equidistant from the transducer face)."
