Siemens LUT440 and XRS-5 Ultrasonic level measurement system (in use in conjunction with a V-Notch Weir to measure water flow using water level over the notch)
Throughout the whole job, everyone I spoke to was polite and professional. All queries I raised were dealt with efficiently and in a timely manner. The work carried out on site was delivered to a high standard and the gentlemen I worked with were professional in what they did. Nothing was too much to ask on site and all the little tidying up of the job was carried out to tailor our/my requests. They tidied up after themselves and left the site as it was found. Overall, a very good job from start to finish in all aspects.
Sam Rose, South Staffordshire Water
RS Hydro received an enquiry to investigate an issue with a non-function Siemens level monitoring system. The level monitoring system was used for monitoring water level flowing over a v-notch weir. This level data was interfaced back to a SCADA system, in order to monitor flow rate over the V-notch.
RS Hydro began investigations with a site visit with the customer to inspect the existing system. Issues were found with the existing level monitoring system, meaning that the system required replacement. The existing data and programming set-up information had been lost. RS Hydro were able to quote a like-for-like Siemens LUT440 system, as well as the associated sensor and cabling.
The LUT440 can be programmed with minimum and maximum 'calibration points' or water levels, with data output facilitated via 4-20mA analogue outputs. Up to 6 relays are also available with the LUT440. A range of different mounting and cable length options are also available meaning the system can be tailored to suit applications with various environments.
Once the system was procured from Siemens, RS Hydro then returned to site to install and commission the level monitoring system. Once active, data was then able to be programmed to relay to the SCADA system. This interface allows for a live reading of flow rate calculated by water height flowing over the V-Notch weir.
RS Hydro are experienced with supply, installation, commissioning, and verification of Siemens ultrasonic level systems. Aside from brand new systems, RS Hydro can investigate systems and diagnose faults. Many level systems are still operational over 20 years old, however once these systems fail, they often need replacement (Milltronics). When required, RS Hydro can assist with this replacement, allowing for a fast and efficient response to restore those vital water level readings.
