RS Hydro and Solinst provides in person training to assist contractors in the installation of a Solinst 401 Waterloo Multi-Level System, providing groundwater samples at specific depth intervals for research into groundwater movement and geothermal energy use.
Solinst 401 Waterloo groundwater sample system
Groundwater Sampling and Water Quality
In person training was provided in order to instruct on how the 401 Multi-Level system is constructed. Demonstrations and explanations were provided on how key pieces of hardware, such as 408 double valve pump, are assembled and operated.
The workshops were interactive and hands-on activities were carried out so that practice and confidence grew within the installation team, ready for the system to be deployed. Question and Answer sessions were held to instruct the team on operating the system after install.
The 401 MLS is easy to install, thanks to slip fit connections requiring no threading of pipe, and components which easily connect to one-another. Extra equipment such as clamps, pliers and Kevlar chord are also used to crimp connections and lower the system into the borehole.
Once installed the 401 MLS system will provide valuable groundwater data in order to carry out Groundwater Cross Hole Tomography surveys. The 401 is great for a feasibility study into using geothermal energy in groundwater for power generation.
RS Hydro and Solinst work together so that training can be provided to users of Solinst groundwater level and sampling equipment know how to best utilise their equipment.
The Solinst 401 Multi-Level System is Solinst's unique groundwater sampler system that provides groundwater samples at specific depth intervals. Each interval is sealed, so the groundwater sample is highly representative of the groundwater chemistry at the depth the water is sampled from - there is no mixing of groundwater samples which is an issue faced by using other borehole sampling methods.
Detailed, three dimensional groundwater information can be obtained at a reasonable cost when a number of Waterloo Systems are used at a site. Fewer drilled holes are an advantage and monitoring times are reduced.
The Waterloo System is customised for the needs of each project. This allows monitoring zones to be placed at desired depths using options suitable for either bedrock, overburden or combination applications and with either removable or permanent systems.
