Temporary Energy Monitoring for a Baked Goods Producer

Abstract

RS Hydro were approached by an energy systems monitoring company to provide energy use measurements on heat exchangers used in processes within a large bakery in the East Midlands. Measurements were only temporary so PT878 portable clamp on flowmeters with energy kits were used and installed by RS Hydro engineers.

Background

RS Hydro were approached by an Energy Systems monitoring company to provide energy use measurements on heat exchangers used in processes within a large bakery in the East Midlands. Measurements were only temporary so PT878 portable clamp on flowmeters with energy kits were used and installed by RSH engineers.

Our engineers were on-site to install the heat meters and assure that the instruments were ready to log flow, volume and temperature every 60 seconds over a period of 2 weeks. The measurements were outputted via 4 -20 mA in L/min for flow and kWh for energy usage. After the two week project, our engineer revisited the site, removed the flowmeters and provided the data for the energy monitoring company.

Our engineers are used to working in industrial process environments such as the one in this bakery application. Aside from being portable energy meters, PT878s can be used by our engineers to verify flow of existing in-line flowmeters within process industries. They can also be used for leak detection and are easily deployable across multiple points of measurement within an industrial process facility.
